JOSEPH COSTELLO
Chief of Police

Chief Costello has been serving Warwick Township since 1980. He began as a patrol officer, moved up through the ranks to Sergeant and has been serving as Chief since 1986. Chief Costello is a veteran of the United States Army and served in Viet Nam.

MARK GOLDBERG
Lieutenant

Lieutenant Goldberg has been serving Warwick Township since 1988. He works closely with Chief Costello to ensure the proper and efficient operation of the Police Department. Lt. Goldberg holds a Bachelor's degree from Holy Family College, a Master's degree from St.Joseph's University and a Law degree from Temple University.

RICHARD VONA
Sergeant

Sergeant Vona has been serving Warwick Township since 1986. He supervises the Traffic As a highly trained accident reconstructionist, Sergeant Vona oversees all serious accident investigations.

PETER HOWER
Corporal

Corporal Hower has been serving Warwick Township since 1994. He is a Squad Supervisor and a Special Bucks County Detective, authorized to investigate narcotics violations throughout Bucks County. Corporal Hower is a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as a K-9 Police Officer in Operation Desert Storm. He is an Emergency Medical Technician and First Aid Instructor.

DANTE MONTELLA
Corporal

Corporal Montella has been serving Warwick Township since 1996.  He is a Squad Supervisor and performs a variety of patrol related tasks. He also supervises the crime scene unit. Corporal Montella is a special Bucks County Detective authorized to investigate narcotic violations throughout Bucks County.

GEORGE FREAS
Corporal

Corporal Freas has been serving Warwick Township since 1993 and serves as a squad supervisor. He is a D.A.R.E. instructor, trained to teach in the elementary and middle schools and teaches R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) self defense program.

AARON RICHWINE
Corporal

Corporal Richwine has been serving Warwick Township since 1999. He is a graduate of Kutztown University and had previously worked for Lower Gwynedd Police Department as a dispatcher. He is a R.A.D. instructor and assists Cpl. Freas in presenting this valuable program.

PAUL FOX
Detective

Detective Fox has been serving Warwick Township since 1988. He is responsible for criminal investigations. Detective Fox is also one of the department's Field Training Officers.

STEVEN CZAPLICKI
Patrol Officer

Officer Czaplicki has been serving Warwick Township since 1993. Officer Czaplicki is a member of the Bike Patrol Unit, serves as liaison to the Central Bucks Youth Aid Panel (Y.A.P.) and is a trained evidence technician. Officer Czaplicki is a veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany.

EDWARD LOUX
Patrol Officer

Officer Loux has been serving Warwick Township since 1998.  He is a Patrol Officer and an Emergency Medical Technician and Field Training Officer.

CHARLES WITMAN
Patrol Officer

Officer Witman has been serving Warwick Township since 1999. He came to Warwick after several years as a police officer in Penndel and Hulmeville Boroughs. He is a trained accident investigator and also serves as a Field Training Officer.

JON OGBORN
Patrol Officer

Officer Ogborn has been serving Warwick Township since 2000. He is a member of the Central Bucks Special Response Team and is a Special Bucks County Detective, authorized to investigate narcotis violations throughout Bucks County. Officer Ogborn is also an Emergency Medical Technician.

KATHLEEN MCGURNEY
Patrol Officer

Officer McGurney graduated from the Temple University Municipal Police Academy with the highest academic and physical honors. She tied highest overall score in her class. She currently serves as our School Resource Officer.

WILLIAM HUEBER
Patrol Officer

Prior to joining Warwick, Officer Hueber worked as a Police Officer in Newtown Borough.  He is a graduate of the Montgomery County Police Academy and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.

JOSEPH GUARENTE
Patrol Officer

Officer Guarente joined Warwick Township in December 2002. He earned his Bachelor degree in criminal justice from Widener University where he attended on a scholarship for athletics. Officer Guarente graduated from the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy in June of 2002.

MARY HOGAN
Patrol Officer

Officer Hogan joined Warwick Township in December 2002. She graduated from Holy Family College in January of 2002 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She also graduated from the Montgomery County Municipal Police Academy.

WILLIAM LEAHY
Patrol Officer

Officer Leahy joined Warwick Township in December 2002. He is a graduate of the Montgomery County Municipal Police Academy and holds a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Temple University.

NICKOLAS MRAZ
Patrol Officer

Officer Mraz was hired in July of 2003.  Prior to joining Warwick, he worked as a police officer in Jenkintown Borough for four years.  Officer Mraz is a graduate of the Temple University Police Academy.

CRIME PREVENTION TIP LINE -   215-491-3525 Leave an anonymous message regarding criminal activity that has occurred in Warwick Township. Please keep in mind that this phone line is not for immediate police response. If you have an emergency that requires immediate response, please dial 9-1-1. It would be helpful (but not required) if you leave your name and phone number in case more information is needed for the investigation. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.

OPERATION IDENTIFICATION -   Operation ID is a theft prevention program.  It involves marking valuables in your home or office with an identification number by either engraving the item or placing a sticker with the identification number on the item.  This program helps recover property that has been stolen, and return it to the rightful owner. It also helps discourage thefts. If you are interested in borrowing the engraver or obtaining more information on Operation ID, contact Sgt. Richard Vona. Warwick Township Police Community Policing Unit at 215-343-6102, ext.103

TOWN WATCH PROGRAM -   - Warwick Township Police has a Town Watch program. Warwick Township Police Department: News & Updates

  • Child seat assistance available. The Warwick Police Department now has a certified child safety seat technician. Sergeant Vona is available to assist parents with this important task; call 215-343-6102, ext. 103, for an appointment.
  • Self-defense course for women. Warwick’s R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) training has increased teaching staff to two -- certified instructor Officer Aaron Richwine will join Officer Freas in leading the classes. Check Comcast Cable Channel 23 for class dates.
  • DARE is currently underway at both Jamison and Warwick Elementary Schools. Classes are being taught by Ofc. McGurney.

 Crossing Guard Position Available

Reliable person(s) needed for steady and alternate positions as school crossing guards. Training and uniforms provided. Applicants must be in good physical condition, willing to work in inclement weather and undergo a background examination. Transportation not provided.

The hours will occasionally change due to late openings with inclement weather. Salary is negotiable based on experience and reliability. Applications may be picked up at the Warwick Township Police Department, Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.


ALARMS

Effective March 1999, Pennsylvania State Law regulates false alarm activations received by a police department, fire department or EMS agency from a residence or business. It is a violation of the Pennsylvania State Law to cause or permit more than three (3) false alarms in a twelve-month period.Persons who cause or permit more than three (3) false alarms in a twelve-month period commit a summary offense and shall upon conviction be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than three hundred dollars ($300.) plus costs.

Although the law was passed in March of 1999, the police department has not enforced this law until August 1, 1999. Alarms received after August 1, 1999 will be considered under this law.

A false alarm is defined as an alarm signal necessitating response by the police, fire or EMS agency were an emergency situation does not exist.An alarm that has been activated by an external source that is beyond the reasonable control of the subscriber shall not be considered false.

A letter from the Community Policing Unit of the Warwick Township Police Department will be sent out for every false alarm. After the 4th alarm is received, the matter will be turned over to Ofc. Dale Hogeland for further action.
